went a perfect 4 and 0 to win the Lac St. Louis league championship. The Ravens, who were playing their first BQ season, will now represent LSL in the provincial finals in Ste. Therese, September 19 to 21. Bionic Braden Simpson put an exclamation point to the win with a no-hit mound performance, facing only 27 Dollard batters and making his way past five errors by |

reliable, since the team was busy listening to Dustin Wallace stories in a bar in Ste. Anne de Bellevue, and the coach was asleep. The win, however, did set a landmark for the tiny hamlet. "Coming out of a town of a thousand, and beating all these big teams is pretty amazing," marvelled one fan. But then, so is this team.

US: Congrats. As a long-time coach, is this your biggest win ever? YODA: We won? The players never tell me anything. US: Seriously. YODA: Seriously; they never do. I'm as useless as a run is to Beauharnois. US: When did you feel this one was in the bag? YODA: Most of our players and fans usually are. US: What's the most difficult part of coaching a talented team? YODA: Finding one. US: No, really. YODA: Well, it's hard to get them all on the same page when most of them can't read. And I've truly always hated math, especially that fourteen does not go into nine. US: Huh? YODA: It doesn't work in Texas Hold'em, but I always bet on nine to win. The others have to enjoy the game like I do: from the dugout. US: Any disappointments? YODA: Yup. Dollard had a lot of fine players who batted left. We had a fine player who just flat-out left US: And now? Can you win the Provincials? YODA: No. But the players can. US: You're very loud from the third-base box. What are you saying? YODA: Dunno. But I never repeat myself. Never repeat myself. Never...... |

GAME NOTES: Braden Simpson's no-hitter was the town's second in championship play. In 2000, Jason Sedgwick of Ormstown no-hit St. Jerome 5-1 as Hemmingford advanced to the Little League Provincial Finals at Terrebonne.....2 % of the town population made the trip to Kirkland, the equivalent of 200 Dollard fans. The teams thank you. |

THE 2001 HAWKS WON SUD-OUEST LEAGUE HONORS by defeating the Royals in a taut, one-run contest. Six of the eight town players from that title team were integral elements of the RAVENS run to league honours. (L to R; back row: Marty 'Muffin' Chambers, 'Tiny' Ty Jadah, Tristan 'Tree' Jadah, Chris 'Cash' Jadah; L to R; front row: Blair 'Bunt'em' Somerville, 'Classy' Colin Barret-Bernstein, 'Bionic' Braden Simpson, and Ryan 'Hackin' Hawkins, who drove in five runs in the big win. |
