RAVENS WIN  JUNIOR TITLE (STORY HERE)
AND THEN THERE WERE TWO: O'S AND RAVENS WIN LEAGUES
(Mercier, Aug.24): After winning some games and much respect at the Lac St. Louis 'A' championships, the gunning, running Orioles returned to local play on Friday and picked up right where they left off, reeling off three  consecutive wins to win their Suroit division. The final gold-medal game against Mercier was a feisty affair won 12-11 by the town youngsters.

ORIOLES WIN SUROIT
DIVISION
(en francais ici)
(Kirkland, Aug. 24): Braden Simpson's no-hitter was only one of many surprises as the Ravens dismantled DDO 5-2 to win the Lac St. Louis title Sunday to end Lakeshore's three-year reign.
Left-fielder Jarred Murphy delivered a key third-inning hit to bring in two runs as the Ravens locked into a three-run lead against a tired DDO team, and left the rest of the work to their ace pitcher.
"Without a doubt," said kindly coach Rob 'Yoda' Jadah after the game, "He's the best young lefty
on our team.
Without Braden, we'd have very few best young lefties on our team."
  Chris Jadah and Marty Chambers
also collected RBI hits for the Ravens, and Ty 'Tanic' Jadah laid down a perfect safety squeeze in the fifth to cement the win.
The Ravens' defence, meanwhile, made life difficult for Simpson, committing five errors as the Brownlea Road Bomber notched his second win of the playoffs.

for Mercier vs Orioles
Both teams peppered the ball, and the town juniors were hard-pressed in the bottom of the final inning, as Mercier advanced the tying run to second.
Then on a base hit, a huge defensive play of Antoine Boyer to Mark Sample to catcher George Sutton cut down the potential equalizer.
The Suroit win was a huge surprise for the O's, especially since they didn't even know there was a playoff until the afternoon of the first game.

(Ste. Therese, Sep.21): Despite staying two nights at a local hotel through the kind sponsorship of George A. Hall Transport, the district Junior champs from Hemmingford limped into the provincial final game with weary bats and spent psyches, losing 9-1 to Beauport.
    The Ravens had averaged eleven
runs and 12 hits per game in winning their first three games before wilting in the afternoon contest.
